The Yellow Wallpaper (work-in-progress) is a hybrid project based on the title short story by American writer Charlotte Perkins Gilman. It was adapted by Αvra Sidiropoulou, designed for film by Emy Tzavra-Bulloch and performed by Elena Pellone.
The play is a work in progress using digital mixed media. Real life footage shot for the purpose of this video, or derived from the animator’s personal archives, is combined with digitally drawn images, in order to create a visually unified outcome. The characters and part of the set are drawn with a digital pen, while other parts of the image are processed in aftereffects to give the feeling of a hand-drawn animation. Filters of film aging and overlays transpire and enhance the feeling of a “period” atmosphere.
